This restaurant is a place that my family and I have visited many times, with it being a particular favored choice of my dad’s. We went there on the request he wanted to go there for his birthday, seeing as he enjoyed it so much last time we visited. In the past we had been disappointed not being able to go due to it being fully booked, so to anyone going I would highly recommend booking a few days in advance. My boyfriend joined us and he was new to the experience, firstly calling it an upper class kebab shop, yet it’s much more than that as he soon discovered. As you step in, the building’s interior has got the most extravagant walls, beautiful hanging lanterns and somewhat calming water near the door. The beautiful gold and colorful painted walls are just breathe taking, adding to the great experience (pictures in my gallery). Although they do not sell alcohol this is no loss due to the amazing range of freshly made juices and milkshakes they have on offer. I just love their mango juice, but whenever I tried to produce the same quality at home I just get into a mess and it doesn’t taste anywhere near as good. While we were searching through the huge choice of food one of the members of staff was very helpful and said if we were stuck he had several recommendations he could give us. I finally settled on chicken wings going out of my comfort zone from what I usually have, the change was a good choice with them being covered in amazing spices but not too hot. What I usually have is also an excellent choice for anyone who loves cheese, the cheese sambousak are a pastry dish and so mouthwatering. Both my parents had an excellent salad dish called baba ghannoogh which includes something very special blended in that is pomegranate syrup, this added an excellent taste and really make the dish. There are so many mains to choose from I was so indecisive for ages, with there being something to satisfy everyone’s tastes. I finally settled on Lamb shish and my boyfriend had the chicken version. Both had excellent flavors to them, served with rice, a side salad and garlic dip (pictures in the gallery). For anyone who knows my dad his first option is fish at any restaurant and he was not disappointed when he picked the sea bass. Although my dad was not keen on the side of chips, they happily substituted it for an excellent salad equivalent even adding in some olives. My mum had a dish called uzy surar, this was an superb pastry dish, filled with meat, rice, nuts and tones of spices. By the end of the meal were we all pretty satisfied and pretty much full to the brim. We ordered a Syrian coffee and some tea, yet this was no normal tea. The tea came in the most beautiful silver tea pot with intricate carved patterns on it; the glasses to drink out of were just as nice as well as having the cutest mini spoon to stir your tea with. As we were drinking our beverages the kindest gesture was given to us of a plate of complimentary dessert called katayef. These were mini pancakes filled with cream and sprinkled with pistachio nuts and were so delicious. When it was time to leave we were not felt as if we were being rushed out of the restaurant, which was excellent as some establishment have habits of doing this. The bill came in a charming little wooden box with some gold decoration on it, making it much more attractive that the usual little plate. The meal was very reasonably priced and for four of us it came to just under £80.00, for the amount of meat we had eaten this was a bargain. Once we had gathered our things we had a warm farewell from staff and one of the members of staff even held the door politely open for us. Overall the experience was a great one, my family and I will be returning many more times to experience the excellent service and make our way through the menu. Further pictures of my adventure are in the gallery.
