parkside cafe

Since I had been house bound for so long so much had changed in my area and I knew I had a lot to explore. Just up the road was welfield road with tons of cafes and restaurants to stop at. I can be a very indecisive person at times so started at the bottom and walked to the other end to gather an idea of what was on offer. At the top was Parkside café with the menus clear on the door outside, allowing you to gather a good idea of the food on offer.

As soon as I and a friend stepped in we were warmly welcomed in and informed to take a seat where we would like. We were briskly then brought over menus and left to browse for a while. I was once again faced with the situation of not being able to have bread narrowing my choices. They had a broad choice of, baguettes, bagels and warm dishes too. I went for one of their many pasta dishes, with them having options for a small or large portion which was great for a quick lunch. The pasta I chose was a carbonara with tagliatelle; I chose the small version but was happily surprised by the portion size. The sauce was very creamy but not too rich; the bacon that was in the pasta was quite big chunks so could get a nice mouthful.

My friend I was with chose one of their many flavored bagels, choosing chicken tikka. The bagel came with a substantial amount of filling as well as a decent size side salad (picture below). I’m not a coffee drinker, but he ordered a latte and it smelt and looked amazing. I was unsure of the soft drinks they had on offer, but by having a quick glance at the counter, I had a much loved appletizer.

There were several seats to choose from in the café, as we were eating we made sure we chose a high up table. At the front of the café is a huge red sofa, which would be awesome to sit on if you were just grabbing a drink and watch the world go by. They also have a crazy lamp shade display that in someone’s house would look too much, but works perfectly in the space. We did not feel rushed at all and when we had to pay just had to go up to the counter in our own time. When we went up the cakes they had on display looked amazing! I will be sure to return to the Parkside café to sample their cakes in the near future. This place has great customer service and excellent tasting food.
