Colour Doomed (street art)

IMG_1007_edited.JPG

On a recent walk along Crwys road I was delighted to see the creation of a new piece of art work being produced. Just before the police station is a huge mural depicting the evolution of life, It starts at one end with the creation of a cell going on to end with a monkey. The Mural depicts many walks of life with the cells evolving into a newt later going into different forms of lizard. The colours start with blue and green shades soon developing into much brighter animals. Many prehistoric animals, with there being an awesome painting of a diplodocus and stegosaurs.

Although the art work looks somewhat simplistic, I would never be able to produce anything as aesthetically pleasing as this piece of art. The basic shapes and patterns are very effective in creating the mural. Having missed most of the made in Roath festival and the empty walls festival due to my previous spinal issues, it was great to finally experience some street art. It truly brings a new twist to Cardiff brightening up several areas with many awesome bits of street art.

Having then returned home I started to research who the artist who had produced this animating piece of art. To my surprise it was an artist called colour doomed who’s other murals I have seen previous. With a lot of the work I’ve seen previous being distinctive style with certain types of shading such as the mural by the poet corner. This made me appreciate the art a lot more knowing the broad capabilities of this artist. I looked further into the artist and I soon discovered that he helps organize the empty walls festival ,which make me excited for future develops of brightening Cardiff’s walls. Furthermore he organizes events in an art gallery The Alchemists Gallery which I will have to add to my art exploration in the near future.

To see the mural for yourself head to Crwys road or having a look in my gallery.
