Mini golf

IMG_1149_edited.JPG

On my list there was a game of mini golf, I always thought I would have to head down to Barry Island or up to the Celtic manor. Opening only at the start of April, tree tops mini golf situated in ST David’s car park was a must visit. Following a sign on the floor it soon came clear what direction to go in to get access to the golfing area. just a lift to the 3rd floor and you were there. In plain sight within the car park was the mini golf adventure, a forestry looking area with sound effects and loads of added features.

As we stepped in the first decision to make was which course to do or even to do both, we soon decided let’s do both. Doing 18 holes would cost us £7.50 but just for a little extra we could do 36 holes for just £12.50. We were giving a putter each and then different colour balls to make sure we could tell the difference between whose ball was who. The first trail we went along was the tropical trail a rainforest effect with tons of trees draping everywhere.

As we continued along the course, my skills very poor we came to some toucans situated on the wall. Both of them had some pretty witty voice recordings playing through them, the one tickled me a lot. The toucan goes on to ironically say “who went and put a carpark in the middle of the rainforest”. Around the 10th hole we came to an entertaining hole at the end was situated a tree which was more than just an obstacle. The tree was somewhat very vocal and coming out with witty remarks as well as its eyes lighting up when putting your ball. The ball when you hit it then comes out through the roots of the tree leaving you wondering which way the ball will go. The scenery was pretty effective with there being a running trail of water, a water fountain and some huge frogs.

We then came to the 19th hole and this was the magical one of all, if you got the ball in the hole you won a free game! There was a fence and then a course of circles so unfortunately I and my friend did not have the skills to gain a free game. It was time then to retrieve another ball from the counter and get onto the next course.

The next course was an ancient Aztec theme with trees and stone ruins being portrayed. One of the courses had an arched rock and I was determined to get the ball through the arch. Could I , defiantly not so took several more shot than was necessary. There were then two interactive holes on this course with, one being an Aztec temple, and the face reacting when you hit the ball. The other one was a little hut with a straw roof; this was the only one that I got a hole in one so this was my favourite.

Both courses took us about an average of an hour to do with us taking our time on each hole. We went on Wednesday midday so this meant that there were not a lot people around at the time so the courses were not over crowded. If you were to go on a weekend or evening I think that the pressure to hurry up with the game may happen. If there is a queue of people do take this into consideration. Generally we had fun but possibly would like more moving obstacles to make some of the more basic holes more interesting. I’m sure I will return at some point in the future and hopefully not lose next time.
