Made in Roath

IMG_1233.JPG

Over the bank holiday I headed just down the road to an event, made in Roath just placed by Albany primary school. As I approached the event I could hear the music and the atmosphere sounded great. There was a guy playing the guitar and singing which I believe was part of the open mic stage. Soon the stage turned to a verity of acts including some rappers. As you moved further down the sound of the mini stage faded and you soon had a DJ playing great soul and funk music.

The area had several stalls with many events and activities for you to join in. Activities such as molding clay into patterns, painting on huge poster or writing some poetry there was something everyone could join in on. The stall that entertained me the most was a homemade paint exploration machine. Made out of an empty drum and a bike, paint was dropped into the drum base and the bike creating to force to turn the paint creates striking paint circles. The results of the force created beautiful circular patterns, with the finished articles displayed around the tent.

Among a lot of the stalls there were a range of foods to try, what all these stalls had in common is that everything had been either handmade or home grown. From huge slices of sponge cake, to cupcakes, freshly squeezed juice and hot homemade food all looked and smelt delicious. I and my mum opted to have one of the freshly made falafel burgers from the people who owned the made gallery just down the road. The fresh spinach, chopped tomatoes and wholemeal bun complimented the burger excellently and just melted in my mouth.

When I was unable to attend the made in Roath events in October I was really annoyed to be house bound but now have finally had a chance to get out and join the atmosphere. Although I was only there for a short while I managed to sample the delights that the festival had to offer. I will be sure to return to another event being held by the made franchise.
