Bills

Recently for a friend’s birthday a couple of us headed to town for a meal at bills restaurant. We made sure that we booked a table to avoid disappointment as it can be very busy at times. As we entered the building it felt like we were walking into a delicatessen. One wall plastered with jars and bottles of fresh produce that’s all produced by bills. Hanging from the celling was what I would call a representation of dried fruit, plants or meat giving you that shop feel. We were sat near the bar, along the outside they had stretched out old cans of olives and placed them on the outside of the bar. This created a rustic mismatch kind of look which I loved. Much of the décor was great an inspirational including the beautiful candelabra we had on our table.

The waiter was very egger to take our drinks order but we had been too busy catching up that we hadn’t had a chance to look. So he said call me over once you’re done and gave us as much time as we needed , especially as the birthday girl had cards and presents to open. Once we settled on drinks I went for pink lemonade, which was bills own version and they even had the option to add ice cream to it. The others made their way through the cocktail menu sampling bills own version of a pimms cocktail. When it came to ordering food we were looking for ages. They had a really good choice of delicious sounding food and none of us could make a decision.

One friend had been to bills before and said that they had tried the mac & cheese with asparagus and leek. So I thought I’ll go with this recommendation as did the birthday girl. The food was amazing the crunchiness of the leek and the mixture of the cheese combined so well together, filling me right up. The other two both grabbed a halloumi and hummus burger which came with a side of skin on fries. Rachel was unsure if she would like halloumi but jumped right in finding she had found a new favored food. After we had all finished our food we were truly happy with the food they had to offer and were very full. The waiter came over and tried very hard to tempt us with dessert but unfortunately none of us had any room.

Even though we were not purchasing anything else we did not feel rushed to leave at all and were left to our own devices. In fact we had to flag the waiter down to get the bill and pay. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful and gave us a warm farewell when leaving. The food was reasonably priced and none of our meals including drinks costing more than £15.00. I’m sure my friends and I will be taking another visit here in due course and maybe even visit the newly opened branch down the bay.
