Just a stone's throw away from my house and situated next to Waterloo gardens is Waterloo tea. What some might call a coffee shop but to others a little place of relaxation and recuperation. On this lovely sunny morning, a friend and I decided to grab some breakfast and have a catch-up. We visited around 9.45 and were the first ones in so managed to get a great window seat.
When it came to deciding what to have I had already done research online beforehand. As soon as I saw the Welsh rarebit on the menu the mouthwatering memories came back. Costing around £6 I couldn't wait to try it again. The cheese is plastered on top of a thick slab of toast with leeks hidden underneath it. When I bit into it the memory of how great the flavour was did not disappoint. The combination of the cheese and the plum chutney were literally an explosion of amazement in my mouth.
My friend chose another great option sourdough with double fried eggs that were cooked just right. This also cost around £6.00 and comes laid out as a sandwich, but I'd advise taking it apart unless you want egg down yourself. The chilli jam had a good kick to it so a warning if you don't like spicy food.
The drinks they have are endless, a tea blend to suit everyone's taste. My tea I stuck to English breakfast, though it still had a snazzy timmer for the perfect brew. My friend had a coffee and although they no longer do almond milk coconut and soy milk are still available. The coffee had a nutty taste but was rich an smooth tasting.
We had only popped in for breakfast but soon it picked up and in the blink of an eye, the place was heaving. With lots on offer and at reasonable prices there is something for everyone tastes. From cakes to coffee, hot and cold food you're spoilt for choice. I will have to make a return visit soon not leaving it a good 3 years this time.
