Ice hockey - Cardiff Devils vs Nottingham Panthers

When I was housebound due to my bad back, for some reason I was like I've never been to an ice hockey match before. Hence why it was added to the list, new experience to be had. When buying tickets, I was very unsure on where was best to sit as there was a lot of choices. In the end, I opted for low down and to the side of goals. My main fear was getting hit by the puck, it would be just my luck to get hit.

When arriving at the car park it was a bit mismatch to park, parking on banks rather than actual spaces. I would advise arriving early to avoid the disappointment of not being able to park, although it is free. When walking into the stadium there were crowds of people of all ages and you could feel the atmosphere. Bag checks are completed for security so make sure you don't take anything stupid.

At the door, the devil's mascot is there welcoming and fist bumping spectators as you go in. The devil brings up the morale and the kids loved it. As you walk in a new addition to the stadium is Grazing Shed. These burgers are a favourite of mine so was extremely happy. The range they serve is a limited menu, but just as tasty.

When finding our seats it was easy, each section clearly marked. The seats though are very close together so take into account you will be very close to your neighbour. I had never realised the following the devils had. There is a sea of jerseys as you enter with many people having signatures on them. One of the fans gets the crowd pumped and ready for the game, by drumming and chanting.

The game itself consists of three 20 minute rounds with 10-minute intervals in between. A rendition of the Welsh national anthem is sung before the game getting the crowd in a great mood.

The players I thought had great skill with firstly staying on their feet whilst chasing the puck. Also, the goalies with defending their goals had great ability. The music in between goals was lively, and at times comical. Unfortunately this time the devils didn't win, but they played excellently otherwise.

For my first experience of a hockey match, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The atmosphere is great, although I will make sure I take more layers next time.
