I had tried to go here previously, but it had been to busy on a Saturday lunchtime. We then went on a Sunday around 3 pm and were welcomed and seen to a table quickly. We were sat near a window with one side being a bench the other side a chair that was oddly shaped. For those of you that have big bums be warned its a tight squeeze. We then ordered our drinks and then got down to choosing the food.
Having previously visited Zizzis before I was on the mailing list and had email offers galore. The offer I choose was the 3 courses for £15.95, there is a limited choice, but I liked my choices. For starters, I opted for arancini, a risotto rice ball covered I'm breadcrumbs. They are mini versions and not the best I've had but hit the spot. For my main, I chose a coppa mushroom pizza with an egg cooked on in the middle. This is something I wanted to try for ages and it did not disappoint.
My boyfriend opted for his starters of wild boar polpette. This was sprinkled with chilli, cheese and a set in a tomato-based sauce. I tried a cheeky bite and the meat was so good it melted in your mouth. The pizza he had was the rustic Picante. The bite I tried had a suitable sweetness too it and the flavours blended well together.
When we went it was a good thing we had left plenty of time to eat. Between course we waited to say 15 to 20 minutes, so if you're in a rush avoid. So I was the only one who had dessert as it came as part of the deal. The waitress saved my dignity by bringing two spoons, I could at least pretend I was sharing. The cheesecake I ordered though was pretty basic compared to the rest of the food.
