Calabrisella - Arancino

When visiting the area of canton me and my mum had some time to spare before the next bus. I then saw it an amazing Italian restaurant that I had to introduce my mum too. This would not be my first visit to Calabrisella but most certainly my mothers.

When we entered it was pretty quiet, but could only have a table for 30 minutes this suited us perfectly. Our original plan was to go in for a cup of tea and cake. Then I saw them, displayed on top of the counter, arancino. With my family being Sicilian they were a huge favourite of mine.

We were then seen to our seats and shown menus, although I already knew what I was having. Firstly we chose drinks they have a huge range on offer to suit all tastes. My mother and I opted for a pomegranate San Pellegrino, one of the many flavours they have. The waitress even complimented us on our choice of drink.

Now the time came to decide how greedy  we were going to be with the food. On display, there were two types of arancino, so we opted for one of each. We would then split them in half and share them. We also ordered one of each to take home for my dad so he didn't feel left out.

They were ready in about 10 minutes and were heated just the right amount so no burned mouths for us. Each one came out on a chopping board and with a bed of lettuce underneath. Each one cost £2 which is a bargain for the size if them.

The first one we split in half was four cheese or more commonly know as four formaggi. There was a beautiful blend of cheese and rice, but not oozing out that you would burn yourself. The hidden surprise inside was mushrooms, that small that even my mum didn't notice. She generally does not like mushrooms, but they slipped right past her taste buds.

The second one was more of a bolognese filling mixed with the risotto rice. As soon as I bit into it my mouth flashed back to taste bud memories. The sauce they used reminded me of the pasta sauce my aunt made. With a slight sweetness but just right.

The food here is great and such good value for money. When looking up the menu online I soon realised that there are four kinds of arracino they do. I will soon be returning to try them all. I will make sure though I book beforehand in order not to be disappointed, it can be very busy.
