As a regular Grazing shed customer, I have been here often but was still yet to visit their newest branch. Having planned a day to Roath park I thought there was no better time to pop into the Lakeside branch. Just a 10-minute walk from the park you come across the lakeside shopping area. Nestled among them is the new branch of Grazing shed.
This branch has a pretty similar feel to the others but with a slight difference. Most branches will have wooden style benches, but together with what looks like old scaffolding. This one though has added comfort with padded chairs and a kind of booth feel. This I much prefer as is a great support for my back. Introducing these into other branches would be a fabulous idea. The rest of the decor is pretty similar, but due to lack of space, it does not shine as much as the other branches.
I had in my mind before I went there that I was going to try something different to eat. On Instagram, I had seen the glory bowls advertised and thought let's spice up my order. This bowl cut out the bread, so if like you're like me and bread is your enemy then these may be right up your street.
The adverts didn't have prices on so at first I was a bit confused about the cost. When enquiring you pretty much can have any burger but in the glory bowl format. I opted for a favourite of mine the hula hula, having chicken rather than beef. I'm pretty sure the cost of which was around £9.00 for the option. The choice consists of chicken, mozzarella, bacon, tomato and pineapple.
Onto the bowl its self, it comes with lettuce, red onion, pea shoots and then spiced chickpeas. First thing I would suggest is getting the bowl and chopping it up into lots of tiny bits. The lettuce leaves are pretty big and the red onions are rings rather than slices or chunks. Drizzled on top is then their boom boom mayo which means it's not to dry.
So the chickpeas say spiced, it's kind of luck of the draw. Some have lots of spice and blow your brain off others have just a tickle of spice. The bowl is surprisingly very filling due to there being a mega amount of protein.
I have to admit I did order a side of fries as my eyes were bigger than my belly. Usually, I have a burger deal, so thought that I'd be able to eat it all. With the glory bowls though I had to buy everything separately as it does not come as a deal. This means paying 2.50 for the bottomless drink, so it soon adds up. If the bowls come to be a big hit I suggest putting them in the deal as it would make me more tempted to buy it again.
