The city of Bath

At the beginning of September, I visited Bath overnight to explore the city. With us trying to do Bath on the budget we took in some sights while hunting owls. We got the bus to Bath easily accessible to from Bristol running every 20 minutes.

We then made our way up to the high streets up past the shops. Even on a Monday weekday, the streets were bustling with a lot of people getting their last minute shop. A lot of the beautiful Georgian architecture is seen throughout the city.

We first came across the Roman Baths, a huge tourist attraction.  With two of the owls being inside the Bathhouses I popped in and had a sneak peak. As an adult, if you wanted to visit it is pretty expensive at £16.50 for an adult. There is saver option though that can get you into the fashion museum, the Baths and Victorian Albert Museum for £22.50.

After we had stopped for a bite to eat it was back to walking. We then came to the Cathedral standing in all its glory. The beautiful stain glass, architecture and wooden door are just mesmerising. When services are not in the place you can enter for a small cost, as well as tours.

Towards the Guildhall there are beautiful standing building and old cobbled stairs. The rivers current and trickling waterfall is amazingly tranquil. If you cross the road then go down some stairs, there are benches to sit and watch the water go by or hop on a boat for a river tour.

Also on this side of the river is what is called a maze. Know as Blazer's garden maze, mosaic tiles scattered on the floor. You follow the path to the middle and a mosaic pattern greets you. This is great for kids or big kids like myself.

It was then time to head to the hotel and rest for day two. We got the bus back into the centre of the city ready for day two of exploring. I planned my route roughly so that we could get as many owls, but take in the sights as well.

The weather was not great but we popped in and out of shops to stay somewhat dry. We came across the market selling all kinds of things, from food to crafts, pet supplies and much more. As we crossed the road we discovered once again that the owls were in buildings. The building they were in was the Victoria art gallery. In there was the just a small selection of artwork as well as a selection of ceramics. But there is adequate seating to be able to sit and examine the painting for ages. Staffs are also very friendly and there are free hot drinks available as well. The gallery its self is free. Due to being on the hunt for owls we could not stay long, unfortunately.

As we made our way up to the royal crescent, we passed many a beautifully decorated shop, all still with the traditional architecture. Then it came to the Cresent itself, a beautiful array of houses overlooking bath. As you walk down past them you can sit in the field below and just awe in there beauty.

Eventually, it came to heading back to the bus station to head on home. With the help of google maps, Bath is very easy to find your way around and has much to see and do. If you're on a budget or choose to indulge I'd recommend everyone go.
