While trekking around Monmouth we came across a Brains pub in the centre. When we walked in it was pretty busy, but we eventually found a seat. Just as some was leaving we jumped in to grab those seats. What was left on the table was the remains of a pie with gravy smeared on the plate. This instantly made my choice of what I was eating.
As seen above I opted for the braised beef and ale pie. It came with skin on fries of mash potato, as well as peas and gravy. The jug of gravy did not disappoint, there was plenty to go around. I could have done with a bit more mash as it was gone before I knew it.
My mum opted for the fully loaded burger one of many they have on offer. The burger came with onion rings, cheddar, bacon and bbq sauce. Its quite a lot to handle so I'd suggest cutting it in half before eating. Both of these meals come to around £20.
We then went on to have dessert, id been craving sticky toffee pudding for so long, so I knew what I was eating. On the menu, it said it came with clotted cream but I changed that. There was no problem when requesting to have custard which made it that much better. It was everything I had been craving and more.
The menu has lots to offer and is a cosy little pub. With books and games.on offer to bid your time. There is also a hotel upstairs if you were planning to stay in the area.
