The smoke house

Having heard great things about this place on a weekday we popped in for lunch. It was pretty quiet with only a few tables occupied. The decor is very loud and has a lot going on. Pictures from films and of bands scattered the walls.

First, we ordered drinks so we had time to decipher the menu. I just stuck with a diet coke but my boyfriend opted for a strawberry milkshake.  When it came the colour was very very pink. When tasting you could taste the additives, a diabetic person worst nightmare. Unfortunately, it was a very artificial tasting instead of beautiful fruity strawberry flavour. We put it to the side and he stuck to a coke as well.

We eventually choose our food as there was an extensive list. I opted for the bbq pit plate, you can either opt for two or three types of meat. My two choices were smoked beef brisket and baby back ribs(£15.95). This comes as standard with slaw and skin on fries. On the side, there was an option to add gravy(£1.50), I love gravy so I was sold.

The food came out and it smelt and looked amazing. The ribs were great the meat fell off the bone beautifully. The brisket, unfortunately, was quite dry and I had to add bbq sauce to make it better. The gravy was a huge disappointment, I might have well just gotten some bistro and water. I was expecting nice thick gravy to dip my chips in. I'd advise you not to bother wasting your money and stick to ketchup. The chips though were amazing, skin on fries in a concaved shape.

My boyfriend opted for a burger specifically the southern comfort burger(£17.95). This comes with a burger, bacon, cheese and chicken breast. A whole pile of meat thrown into a burger. It also comes with crispy onions and garlic mayo. It's a pretty big burger and some stuff does fall out when eating it. You can also double up any of your burgers for an extra cost. The burger was very nice with not a crumb left.

If we were going to return, I'm sure there are certain things we would not be ordering. But currently, I don't have a mega urge to return rapidly.
