Japanese food at Ichiban's Albany road.

I eventually managed to get out with my friend Katie for a belated birthday sushi meal. We opted to go for lunch as we know there are deals on, so thought we would save some money. At lunch, there's only a short window to eat between 12-2.30. When we arrived it was quiet but were warmly welcomed and seen to our seats. We were sat in a booth that had what I'd call a laminated place matt. On this matt were depicted all kinds of sushi to get your mouth watering.

Once we had narrowed down the menu it was time to order. We had waited for the moment for so long and did go a bit crazy with our order. Firstly we got a ton load of salmon sashimi, 3 portions to be exact. This eventually added up and afterwards, the cost hit us at £24 for the lot. The salmon though it goes down so easily one bite after another. The fish is so fresh and dipped in soy sauce so tasty. The fish is layered atop beautifully shredded cabbage.

Along with our sashimi, we ordered some salmon nigiri as well as some roe. This time the rice for the nigiri didn't seem to hold together as well as normal, unfortunately. This meant I had a few bits of floating soy sauce and rice. All of this though was displayed on the amazement that was a boat!!

Then it was on to the main and we could only hope we had room. At lunch, there are offers for only £8.95. Me and my friend both opted for the same thing. We had a chicken katsu curry which came with rice. Also, it came with a side salad and 3 vegetable gyoza. The vegetable gyoza came with a side of dipping sauce. This sauce was amazing honey tasting dip that was so salivating. The katsu curry came with a huge mound of rice and sauce. The sauce also had a great amount of potato and carrot chunks to bulk it out.

By the end of the meal, we were both full to the brim. The meal came to a shocking £55 for the two of us. Although there is a discount card it can not be used at lunch, unfortunately. With the cost of sushi going up and up I think it will be a while before I visit again. In the meantime, I may just have to skip my sashimi cravings.
