Ever since having subzero ice cream at the food festival in Cardiff, I knew I needed to try more flavours. In 2016 they expanded their love of ice cream by opening a parlour right next to their factory. Situated in Tonypandy in an industrial estate its easy to find, just a bit of an odd setting. I and my friend Lucy went on a Tuesday evening arriving about 6ish.
The parlour its self-was smaller than I thought it would be with limited indoor seating. On a lovely summers day, there is plenty of outdoor seating. If though you catch them at a busy period take into account there are only 3 low down tables inside. Opening from Tuesday to Sunday from 11 am till 10 pm there is plenty of time to visit as long as it's not Monday.
The interior is very pop arty and defiantly grabs your attention, making you be drawn into the store. On the back walls, there are screens rotating the options you have to eat. Across the counter, there is about 4 large display freezer displaying 60 different flavours of ice cream. Atop the freezers are several varieties of cones to have. From standard wafer cones up to chocolate coated waffle cones. This is just the start as there are options galore. From waffles to crepes and even ice cream cakes, you're spoilt on what to choose.
We had both looked online beforehand and a recommendation from a colleague meant we opted for waffles. I had the cherrisomo and Lucy opted for strawberry. The cost of both came to £11.90 for both of us. It was not long before our dishes were brought over and as shown above, they looked amazing. These waffles though are two mini coin waffles rather than one big one. I think I prefer this as it gives your more of an ice cream to waffle ratio. Generally, they come with a standard vanilla scoop of ice cream and another flavour to accompany your choice. The cherries and strawberries on both our plates were filled to the brim and they did not disappoint. Sweet, scrumptious and so so satisfying.
Before we left though it was time to look at all the flavours they had to offer. They range from a selection of sorbets, basic flavours, as well as such greats as jammy dodger icecream. I knew I needed my parents to try this so I had to take some for the road. You could opt for small tubs priced as 4 for £4.99 or a big tubs at £3.99. The small ones come with a storage tube to take them home in which helps keep them cold. I could only carry so much so will have to defiantly return in the near future.
