Festivities, friends and food!

Once again its come around to that time of year to meet up and get merry. Narrowing down a place to eat can be difficult with some needing booking far in advance. Also trying to get something that is in everyone price range as well as tastes can be hard. So I've done some of the hard work for you and narrowed down some places that might tickle your taste buds.

1. The Clink restaurant

Situated next to the prison the clink helps people get out of the system of crime and reshape their lives. I would suggest booking is essential for here to avoid disappointment. On offer for Christmas they have :

3 courses with a hot drink and mince pie.

Lunch £29.95 Dinner £39.95

My personal choice on the menu:

Roast beef, Yorkshire, potato, gravy, root vegetables, spiced red cabbage and sprouts.

2. The Three Brewers

A sizzler pub on Colchester Avenue is the lowest priced I've found so far. Traditional food options as well as many vegetarian options.

3 courses for  £11.99

2courses for £9.99

On selected dates, you can have 3 for the price of 2 on courses.

My personal choice on the menu:

Festive burger a twist of the traditional roast in a burger.

3. Society Standard

Having eaten great food here before, the Christmas menu choices don't disappoint.

Among a whole bunch of up and coming restaurant on Whitchurch road.

2 courses for £19.95

3 courses for  £25.95

My personal choice on the menu :

Parsnip and apple soup with parsnip and caramelised granny smith.

4. Da Mara

A great Italian restaurant, which I did visit for a Christmas meal last year. Last year a great offer of pizza and prosecco for £10.99 which was a bargain. This year they have even greater offers.

3 courses for £17.99 at lunch.

3 courses for £24.99 in the evening.

My personal choice on the menu :

The steak which is only served on the evening menu.

5. Henry's

I have walked past here many times before but not even eaten here. I looked up there menu and it sounded delightful.

 3 courses for £24.99

My personal choice on the menu:

Roast lamb shank in a red wine sauce and roast vegetables.

6. Irie Shack

The picture below is from 2 years gone by, a great Caribbean meal had by all. This is a slight twist on traditional Christmas meals and spices up your life. Crackers come as part of the meal and there are great drinks on offer too. Also, there are two restaurants one in Cathays and another down the bay.

2 courses for £16.95

3 courses for £19.95

My personal choice on the menu:

Halloumi bites, had them the other day tasted so good.

7. The classroom

Another blast from the past of Christmas meal in a great setting.  The photo below from 2 years where we had a great time. Within the vale college on dumbells road. This brings professionals teaching students cooking and hospitality in a live setting. The views as well over the city are spectacular.

2 courses for £20.95

3 courses for £23.95

My personal choice on the menu :

Apple and Perl las arancini

8. Juno lounge

Part of a chain of coffee shops Juno lounge has got a twist with some tapas. The tapas is to share but options for mains and puddings are also on offer. If choosing 2 courses take into account all in your party will have to have the tapas or the main and can't be split.

2 courses for £19.95

3 courses for £24.95

My personal choice on the menu :

Popcorn brie bites

9. Cosy club

A chain restaurant situated in town with quirky decor. The food I've had here before is delicious so I hope, the Christmas menu lives up to the standards.

3 course for £27.95

My personal choice of the menu:

Beetroot, carrot and parsnip pie.

10. The pot bistro

Last year some friends and I went here and it was a great hit. This year the meals come with crackers and confectionery. Another popular place situated on Whitchurch road recently having a makeover as well.

2 courses for £25.95

3 courses for £28.95

My personal choice on the menu :

Game pie or butternut squash with red lentil soup.

This is just a small selection of what Cardiff eateries have to offer. Take into account a lot of these require deposits before as well as pre-orders for food.

I hope there is something here that takes your fancy and id love to hear other options I may have missed.
