Having read an article on wales online about the best place to eat, one jumped out at me. The Yorkshire pudding wrap, meat, stuffing, gravy and all wrapped up in a Yorkshire pudding. When I found it though I was very disappointed it was the smallest thing I'd ever seen. A wrap and a scattering of potatoes for £6.50 I had to pass.
Then it was time to search for something new to eat among the stalls. Firstly was the standard German sausage and I had one last year, so I moved on. One stall called the melty cheese company did look somewhat good. Though as my boyfriend is not the biggest fan of cheese I wanted something we both could have. The hunt then continued, many a sweet treat from brownies to churros, but I was feeling savoury.
Finally, I saw it, the mouthwatering dish of potatoes, meat and cheese. Just situated opposite house of Fraiser it's slightly hidden from the majority of the market. French cuisine to wet anyone's appetite. With three dishes on offer even a vegetarian option, it was hard to narrow down. All of which is no more than £5 a portion.
We opted for the two meat options and shared a bit of each between us. The first one was tartiflette, a great assortment of potato goodness. The cheese, bacon and onions complemented each other so well. The dish was so creamy and warming to the heart. The second dish we had was Coq au vin a very traditional French dish. The combinations of the wine, chicken and vegetables made it such a lovely rich flavour.
Both the dishes we tried came with the options of herbs, which was thyme, accompanying the dishes beautifully. We also were given two great big chunks of French stick to mop up any leftovers. This is great warming food to have when out and about and I'd highly recommend. All at great value for money! My first taste of French cuisine and certainly not my last.
