Breakfast is not really a thing I go out for often but was up early so why not. I'd seen many beautiful pictures of their food and had to give it a try myself. Situated opposite the castle in Duke-street arcade it's easier to find than you'd think. We went particularly early at 9.15am just after they had opened at 9 am. Although they serve breakfast all day it gets very busy very quickly. It's only a small place as well so expect to be close to your neighbouring dinner.
When we did enter we were warmly welcomed and found ourselves a table. Then given time to browse the menu for a while before we ordered. Once we had placed our order our drinks were bought over promptly. My tea came in a pot and the cutest mini milk jug. The milk jug looked like a mini milk churn and had just the right amount of milk for the tea. My boyfriend had a coke and it was in the swanky glass bottles.
Before we knew it our breakfast had arrived piping hot. I'd opted for pancakes, these all come gluten-free with several toppings and cost £7.50 each. I opted for scrambled egg, maple syrup and halloumi. You'd think that maple syrup and scrambled would not go well, surprisingly they complimented each other greatly. The pancakes were piled high and I was stuffed by the time is finished.
My boyfriend opted for the the mighty meaty breakfast, costing £9.55. It comes with 2 slices of bacon, 2 eggs, beans, mushrooms, a grilled tomato, toast, pork and leek sausage and a choice of either hash browns or rosemary potatoes. The plate was full to the brim that the toast had to be brought out on a separate plate.
There are plenty of other alternatives as well with one breakfast coming with cockles and lava bread.
The food was delicious and the staff are friendly. If you're wanting cheap and cheerful though I would say it would not be your kind of place. But if you want a nice treat, this is the place for you.
