This would not be the first visit to Hogwurst, but my second of many more to come. When another voucher came up on Groupon I knew it was time to visit again. For £12.50 hot dogs and a side of fries for two, how could I say no? Seeing as one hot dog off the menu is around £8.95 this offer was a bargain. Just situated half way up north road, it's a short walk or a few stops on a bus from the city centre.
We arrived around 2 pm and it was pretty quiet, with only one other table occupied. They have very eclectic furniture and great music playing. If you fancy a board game or jigsaw puzzle, then this is your place, even with a Hogwurst board game.
So one of the most exciting things every time I go, is a brand of ice tea they sell. This ice tea is Brodies and its the best ice tea ever! Can I find it anywhere else nope, so going just for the ice tea is worth a visit. With the voucher, there are no drinks but they have plenty of different drinks, including shakes to tipple any tastebuds.
So the food its self has a huge range of hot dogs as well a different fries. The fries are piled high and have several different options. I opted for the garlic fries, just the right amount but not overpowering.
The buns are all brioche buns, baked by a great bakery called Allen's bakery. Most hot dogs unless choosing a veggie option come with a pork frankfurter.
For my choice, I opted for 'The Hogmama', pulled pork, crispy onion, mustard and ketchup. The pork is piled high and I would advise cutting the hotdog in half unless you want it down yourself. The pork is moist and the crispy onions compliment it beautifully.
My boyfriend opted for 'The Texan", southern fried chicken, pepper, onions, ketchup, mustard and bbq sauce. I'd advise taking the chicken off and cutting it up if you plan to get your food in your mouth.
The food is scrumptious and by the time you have finished your greatly satisfied. If in the area it's a great place to go, even open to 10 pm on certain days. They offer a breakfast menu as well and many different offers. I will be sure to return when next in the area.
