So yes I did it a whole 3 pizzas whilst in Rome, but do you blame me. To find the perfect pizza was my mission, none of this dominoes style pizza.
When exploring near the trevi fountain we came across Origano, a restaurant with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. To say there were few bumps in the road with the food wait was an understatement. Once we did have the food my pizza came and it was time to chow down. I ordered a pizza with sausage, mushroom and cheese. The base was pretty strong holding the topping on reasonably well. The only thing was the cheese covered the majority of the pizza. This meant this was the majority of the taste not really getting much of another flavour. I give it 7/10.
Then we visited a restaurant in the area of Balduina. A local restaurant where local people visit. When we were there people were in and out collecting pizzas to take away. This time I opted for a pizza with mushrooms, sausage meat and buffalo mozzarella. The base was so thin it, unfortunately, had burnt on the side slightly. I started to cut it up ready to eat and the topping seemed to have made a watery mess. The base just could not support the toppings and this was a messy eat. The Buffalo mozzarella though was great and sweet to taste.
Overall score 4/10.
So the last pizza I had was actually at the airport in a restaurant called Farinella. This place was the only place that seemed to have a vegan option. Once we figured out how to order food was brought over promptly. I opted for pizza with ham, mushroom and mozzarella. The dough was amazing, so sweet and fresh and easy to eat. The toppings, although some did fall off, tasted amazing! I give it 9/10 not perfect but almost there.
