Having been mine and my boyfriends birthdays we thought we'd book a nice little lunch one day. Easy to book online through their website and they even had 50% off mains throughout June when booking this way. Situated in dominions arcade on the 6th floor of the indigo hotel, it's easily accessible by a lift.
Once we arrived, and the two people in front of us were seen to it was our time to be seated. The chairs and decor were very fancy, and actually very comfortable to sit on. We ordered our drinks and then food and we then waited. First we had just a nibble, sourdough with bread and butter. The bread was nice and warm, that the butter just melted.
We then waited for our main, just talking amongst ourself while we waited. In total it was a whole 35 minutes till our main came. I know it's all cooked from fresh but seemed a bit of a long time. Our food came and we were so relieved.
I ordered the lamb with green beans and dauphinoise potatoes, with a what i'd call a thin gravy. The potatoes were beautifully layered and tasted delicious. The lamb though was mediocre, cooked but nothing special that made me wanting more. The Green beans must have been overcooked as they were rubbery to taste so left them on the side.
My boyfriend had the honey roasted bacon chop with red cabbage and fondant potato. So the flavour you would think you'd get would be honey, surprises it's not, it's more aniseed taste. It spoiled the whole dish tainting the food making it inedible.
So overall we were some what disappointed, the waitress asked how come we didn't eat it and explained the harsh taste. We just asked for the bill as we wanted to leave asap. We ended up going to the bar to pay to speed it up. So unfortunately even with our 50% off we ended up paying for food that we didn't really enjoy. I think the strong flavours need to be listed in the food description, so others are not disappointed.
