Church Street is becoming the new up and coming street in cardiff. With more and more resturants popping up day by day. Me and my boyfriend took our time and eventually decided on Pho. Both never having Vietnamese food before we thought why not.
When we entered we were warmly welcomed by staff. We were given the option of where to sit as well which I loved. It meant I could choose the nice booth seat. Right away we were asked if we had an allergies which we don't but good to know they are on it.
First things first we opted for our drinks, there was a huge range, alcoholic and non. I opted for something a bit different to normal, one of their juices. All freshly made with a fair few options. I had the pineapple , apple and mint flavour . This was such a refreshing drink and the mint was not too over powering.
It was then time to order our food. We opted for some starters to share . First was the summer spring roll(£6.25) with chicken. It comes with a dip of choice as well, we opted for the peanut. On this dish it states herbs, but all I could really taste was coriander. I ended up smothering it in the peanut dip so I could eat it.
The second option for our starter was a much better option , crispy spring rolls(£6.95) . We opted for the pork option and the chilli dipping sauce . These were the best thing I had tried in a while , so flavoursome and crunchy. I would order plates of these on their for a small lunch.
For mains we both opted for the main dish Pho. A broth basised soup, with a plate of herbs on the side to add as you like. I was so very impressed with this as there are certain herbs I find over powering( coriander). When the bowl is brought over its massive and fills you right up.
I opted for the brisket and mushroom (£8.75) and my boyfriend the pho house(£12.95). Mine came with enoki mushroom ,beef brisket, an egg yolk and all in a beef broth. I was just in love the yolk so runny, I mixed it in the spread the flavour. The textures and taste blending together so well. The only herbs I took from my plate were the chilli's as I felt it did not need altering. My boyfriend pho the prawns were just so big, the did not scrimp on them at all.
We both ate as much as we could and the broth was just so filling . We later found out from the waitress that its all made fresh to order. You can pretty much tell as its so flavourful and fresh. I will defiantly be returning, even if it's just to eat the mini spring rolls.
