Batsford Arboretum

Located near Morten in Marsh is Batsford arboretum. A huge lot of plants with some pretty scurpltuess along the road. Entry is £8.95(with gift aid).

As you walk in it is past the garden centre and shop which is better than most. With plenty of tools, plants and accessories. I even got some rooting powder which I have not seen in other garden centre. There also is a gift shop to buy any trinkets.

I spotted while buying our tickets they had a hedgehog trail on, it was just for kids mind. Scattered around the grounds different painted hedgehogs with a prize at the end. So the place really is a family affair.

The acres of land had several paths to follow, a lot of the gradient was up a hill. We first headed towards the waterfall area. We soon realised the water running towards the waterfall had dried out. This was due to the peak heat and the lack of water.

We decided to head along another path with a view of a beautiful Manor and church. Both of these are private land so you can view from a distance.

Along the trail is also some focus points to view. This includes a foo dog , some deer statues and also a lovely Japanese bridge. Where the bridge is located is a lovely pond and bench to take in the scenery. You could spend the whole day there going from point to point taking stops on benches along the way.

We actually went for lunch here as well , twice. They are currently having work done and a beautiful new indoor cafe will be completed soon. The outdoor area though was fantastic with plenty of seating and umbrellas for shade. I opted for a bacon and brie panni which was delicious. It came with a salad and some crisps which made it great value for money.

The staff were friendly all around in the cafe and the shops. The grounds are beautiful and I bet even nicer when it's through the different seasonal. I would highly recommend a nice walk around the grounds if in the area. Do take into account not all routes are disabled friends due to the terrain.
