Opening during the pandemic and located on city road is Castello Grill. Having walked past it loads of times it was finally time to tuck into some grub. We were sat down when we entered in a nice window seat and given menus. As we browsed the menu I could smell the fragrant spices already cooking.
We first ordered drinks, I was so happy that they were doing smoothies. I opted for the mango and lime ,my boyfriend for the berry heaven soothie(£3.90). As well I did ask for a jug of water for the table. Unfortunately they don't even do a glass off tap water, not to sure why. They did how ever have bottles of water on offer with a large being £2.00. I opted for that but never actually got one, but was not charged so this was fine.
The smoothies when they came were in really nice glasses and came with a paper straw. They had been blended and were so nice and thick. They were fresh and so tasty. They do 4 flavours in total and I highly recommend trying them.
We then ordered our food, having starters and a main. We opted for batata harra(£3.90) , cooked potatoes with herbs and spices. These were beautiful aromatic , with a hint of heat and were so tasty. We also had some tempura prawns(£5.00) , these were pretty standard to others I've had else where.
For the mains we opted for the grills range. I opted for the lamb shish(£12.50) and my boyfriend the lamb ribs(£10.99). Both came with rice, salad and bread. The salad had great dressing on it and was nice and fresh. The bread was a bit thinner than preivous breads I've had.
The meat was tender, succulent and aromatically spiced. But the star of the show was the rice. The rice was cooked so well, I think it was steamed. It was fragrant and I think this was due to the pine nuts in the rice. I wish I could cook rice this tasty.
Overall I enjoyed the food it was beautifully cooked. Its great value for money for what you get. The smoothies are so fresh and one of your 5 a day. I'm sure I will be returning soon to try some other beautiful dishes.
