Lark Designs - Hen party

I love a hen party , but also love arts and crafts. Creating an event that everyone can come to is hard, but Lark designs covers it. Located in Cathays on Dogfield street, easily accessible by bus or a short walk from the city centre. My friend Katie had organised for our friend Joyce a craft event for her hen party. This meant that those who are not up for the traditional hen of drinking can enjoy the fun as well. With disabled access as well this was very important.

Booking very far in advance we took the morning slot of 10am for our craft fun. We had the activities of making flower crowns and sashes(£30 pp). When we first arrived we were welcomed by Gemma. You will also get the surprise of Gwen the dog who is very friendly. We were all asked for teas and coffees and cold drinks are there on request as well.

The table is laid beautifully for us all to get crafting. Boxes of flowers, tools and a wire frame for our crowns to start making shape. Gemma shows us step by step to shape the crown. Which tools to use for shaping it and get rid of any lose wires.

Then the fun starts, the flower picking and decorating. With large, small, roses, daisy's and all the colours of the rainbow to choose from. We all dived in and got picking. Not one crown being the same, each individual creation being made.

It was then time to make our own sashes which I loved. Normal sashes are not one size fits all and have cheesy slogans on. There was a range of colours to choose from as well , diffrent shades of pinks and purples. Then it was time to choose what word you would like.

The words were a selection of silver letters we would later iorn on. I did get a bit of an organisational flair and sorted the letters as people needed them. While I did this others went on to dabble in using the sewing machines. This bought me back to textiles classes in school. With a simple stich and then it was ready to go.

This was so much fun, even a frame and date for pictures on hand. Gemma was happy to take pictures for us and offer any crafting assistance when needed. We opted for the flower crowns for this party, but the options are endless.

On display I saw lipstick making, soap making, wire art and much more to do. On display is also art from other local artists. I unfortunately did not have a time to look through them. I will be sure to return but will have to see if its appointment only. So if you want a hen party, or just a craft day out in cardiff you know where to go.
