Turkish brunch at Longa

I wish brunch was more normalised because it's so underrated as a meal! The best kind of foods come out at brunch and most of them are accompanied by bread , my mega weakness. Having been once before to longa when it first opened I had to share the delights with friends, as well as myself getting to try a different dish on the menu. We booked to make sure we were not disappointed as I know it can be popular. When we arrived there were people outside queueing ready for the next table to be free, they must of heard the hype.

The interior is great as my friend Laura pointed out,it looked so fresh and clean even though it had been around for a few years. The staff were friendly and left us to it to browse the menu while we waited for our other two friends to arrive. The menu had so much choice that we had to eye up what items were getting sent to other peoples tables to narrow down our choices. Once our friend turned up it came down to the crunch of making a choice. First we got the drinks out of the way with them having a range of hot and cold drinks to suit most tastes. I opted for a tea and orange juice, thankful no pulp just the way I like it. The juice was so fresh just what you needed first thing in the morning. The tea to milk ratio was also on top form as often my milk standards are cut short with lack of milk.

Then came the time to get our food, finally, I had narrowed it down and Laura also had the same idea as me. We had both opted for the menemen, paying the extra to add cheese. When it arrived it looked amazing, cooked tomatoes, gooey melted cheese and perfectly runny egg yolks. The tomato sauce was flavoured excellently and the sprinkle of herbs added to the famous flavour. My favourite part was getting the fresh Turkish breads and mopping up the pan clean.

My friend Adam opted for what my second choice was which I will be trying next time. His dish of eggs an potato, was a mix of cubed potato, scrambled egg and cheddar cheese. Of course, the bread came ready to clean up the last of the dish. Finally, Remi ordered something I am so obsessed with shakshuka. Beautifully cooked aubergine, potatoes and tomatoes all seasoned with paprika.

There were empty bowls all around, with Adam highly praising my recommendation. The food was delicious, the staff friendly and the atmosphere relaxing to catch up with friends. We did not feel rushed at any point in our visit which meant we could sit back and enjoy the food and company. I will have to return in the near future and find out how I get some bread of my own to take home with me.
