Yamas -Cardiff Greek food

Located on Welfiled road Yamas is one of the many newish resturants to hit the Cardiff food scene.

Booking 2 days before , they do have a new online booking system, but as my phone was being temperamental I called and booked instead. You are given a time slot for about an hour and half as it can get very busy.

When me, my friend and my boyfriend arrived , it was very busy, but our table was all set up and ready. The decor was a lot of blue and white to represent the Greek flag. There was music blasting and the sound of chatter , with people enjoying their meal.

We had a browse of the menu with there being lots of options to choose from. Small nibbles to Gyros, sharing plates and platters. We first opted for drinks , with these being brought over very promptly. I had asked for water as well for the table but this did get forgotten.

We had all decided on a platter with me and my boyfriend having the grilled meat and my friend getting the gyro meat. It comes with an option of sauces as well , so I opted for their signature sauce the yamas sauce.

The food was not too long before it was served and as you can see from the picture it was very impressive. I had opted for the lamb skewers and they were cooked and seasoned lovely. The chips are a great serving size and the meat juice drip on them for added flavour. The pitta bread I'm not sure if it's made fresh, but I was impressed. It's not too dry, cooked and seasoned well and plenty of it. You also get a basic salad as well so getting some of your five a day. My boyfriend did wish the pittas with slightly bigger cuts so you could hold the meat in it with sauce and salad. My friend gyro chicken came shreaded and there was plenty of meat scattered.

Overall we all enjoyed our food and there was not a crumb left. The server we had was very friendly and had great knowledge of the menu. I am sure I will be visiting again to maybe get a platter to share to try a different item.
